birthday?

so today is screaming baby's first birthday. weeks of wasting time...err... planning have gone into today's activities... buying of plastic john deere tractor ride on toy and helmets and shit. then the receiving of said gifts, then yesterday was spent putting them all together, ordering cake and balloons and arranging for people to stop by the office! and this isn't even the official party! that's on Saturday, this is just the office birthday party... oh man...

first thing they do is fire up a monstrous piece of this block of sugar... errr... cake and heave it over towards the smiling child, that was at nine this morning... this kid has burned through all the sugar now and is cranked out like I've never seen before. my idea of boosting him back up with another six inch square piece of cake was shot down and not well received...

"I AM TRYING TO PUT HIM DOWN FOR A NAP!!!"

yeah right, put it down for a nap... oh and wanna know why hes been crapping like mad for the hour? its a cake from a grocery store. i had a piece, its whipped sugar with a sugar frosting and compressed sugar bits on it... good luck.

i'll be back later all, after the birthday boy takes a nap.

The whole sugar making kids act up is chemically a myth. Its not the sugar that winds them up, but supposedly, the activity that they are engaed in. Indulgence, other kids, parents acting a fool, lack of schedule, etc. that makes them jacked up.

Interesting, no?

A one year old? get them a cardboard box to play in and save yer money for porn.

I know people say the sugar thing is a myth but I've witnessed with my own eyes the destruction and carnage that sugar brings out in small children with my own. One minute you've got an angelic child smiling sweetly at you...then give him a lolly pop and he's the devil's spawn!!! NO KIDDING!!!

I like your blog! A little dark, but honest...there is a lot to be said about that! I found you via Bob. Check out my site if you'd like.

I agree with Random Chick (honey, what the hell's your name?), sugar jacks everyone up. I remember my early years...gorgeous party, beautiful cake, then I'd barf. Every single year. It turned out I was allergic to all that damn sugar! Once mom started making cakes that had a more reasonable ratio of sugar to flour everything changed. Birthdays were actually fun!

By the way the bikini race is on over at the Cafe. I've set new rules in an effort to win and win big. I've analysed all your weaknesses and come up with the best solution. Check it out. Oh, and I'm "Mr. Black." What can I say...I got there first. Just don't pick a color that's going to make you look fatter, you'll get all the sympathy votes. Play fair.

Good luck baby!

i have to agree with oakland heidi..it's the activity surrounding the sugar thats the problem
and old knudsen's right too...a one year old doesnt appreciate a great big cake. i'd spend the money on coffee or chocolate or cheescake or....or....or.....not porn. but each to his own

laughing at old knudsen... that was funny. and true. give kids the box or the platsic wrapping not intended for them and they're set.

ya, this whole baby at the office thing is lame. i guess it pays to sleep with the boss.

MJ! complete with plastic toys and screaming kids! oh the joy...

denim, from what i understand any birthday party is not about the birthday individual... its about everyone else thats important to the individual... (best guess)

i'll have to sit on the fence with this one... ive seen perfectly sober drivers get "drunk" with their friends without having a drop. party is on and bar is hopping and sober driver is sweaty and having just as good a time as everyone else... now kids and sugar i'll have to say first hand what it does at our house with zero stimulation.... bing, bing bong, bounch, zip, pow, whippitty whip wap, blamo... "mom, i want this/that... no buwhahahahaa...... zzzzzzzzz" its true as well though that the children who have been alloed the sugary bliss tend to react the same way... i was just listening to a report on npr about the placebo effect within humanity... everything from religious cures to clinical trials... very interest stuff... i think if you belive its going to happen it will happen, if think it wont, it generally doesnt... cool point, it seems to have brought a flavorfull conversation with the other voices in here... interesting, yes!!!

knudsen has spoken.... give them the box and buy a video of your choice...

random chic, i too have witnessed the abominible behaviors of children on crack/sugar... devils spawn indeed....

beast... *sings a melody* "lulla-bye little boy, sweet dreams for you, mj will be here soon, she has a fruit basket...."

im not sure id want to nap around these parts.... thanks for the comment!!!

justin, welcome to the voices! with so many new commers im going to have to do a get to know one another post!!!! i'll check you out asap!

suzzannerondo! if you cant play nice and speak politely to my other readers here we will put you in the corner... im the only one whose allowed to berate people here... i hope will not have to take you out behind the tool shed.... hahahahaaa... sorry to hear about your youth filled with barfing at parties... sounds like some of the parties i went to as a kid, but it wasnt the cake that i was barfing from...

cecile! coca-cola! are you crazy?!?!?! thats the liquid from the gods! that could never have any ill effects on children or adults!!! and if they are anything like you......

kylie, becare agreeing with the knudsen... im glad you specified at the end of your comment about what? whew, close one... but like i said to oakland, im on the fence about this one... i see how both things will have the same result...

mj, so cute! i wonder if he wears fruit of the looms?!?!
